Eggs Egg was a very important attribute on traditional Russian spring ceremonies. So, for the first pasture after long winter, herders took an egg with them in hope that cows would become plump and milky. Easter is also impossible to be celebrated without eggs, a symbol of a new life. The most popular Russian rite dish was fried eggs that were given to a newly married couple at wedding, to young girls at Whitsunday. Egg is considered ferial food that is forbidden to eat at fasts.
