"The Marche region of Italy has been turning out some wonderful wines that are also great values. In competition with their neighboring regions, the ""Barocco"" is their regional version of a super Tuscan. This is a wine comprised of Cabernet sauvignon (50%), and Montelpuciano (50%). The Cabernet vines are grown near the Castello di Pticchio, in the town of Arcevia. After lengthy maceration and fermentation on the grape skins and , the wine is aged in French Allier barriques for 18 months. Further aging in bottle for 10 months ensures a wine of depth and smoothness. A big, concentrated wine that competes with the best out there ... at a fraction of the cost. " |
