Method:
WASH, REMOVE STEM AND STONE (PIT) THE CHERRIES. CUT CHERRIES IN 1/2. PUT THE CHERRIES AND SUGAR INTO STONE (or GLASS) JARS IN ALTERNATE LAYERS, ENDING WITH A SUGAR LAYER. COVER WITH MUSLIN, AND LEAVE FOR THREE WEEKS OR MORE IN A WARM DARK PLACE TO FERMENT. WHEN IT HAS STOPPED FERMENTING ADD THE VODKA, LET SIT IN A SEALED CONTAINER TILL DEC. STRAIN THE LIQUID THROUGH CHEESE CLOTH INTO BOTTLES AND SEAL. LEAVE NINE MONTHS IF POSSIBLE.
SERVE ICE COLD IN SHOT GLASSES
THE CHERRIES, WHEN DISCARDED, CAN BE DIPPED IN SUGAR AND EATEN WITH RUSSIAN TEA.
