Russian Lenten Pokhlebka recipe


Ingredients:
1/2 lb shredded cabbage
1/2 lb potatoes
1 ea onion
1 ea carrot
3 oz pearl barley
dill
salt
measures conversion [+]

Method:
Cook pearl barley in water until half done, add shredded cabbage, cubed potatoes and cook on medium heat for 15 minutes. For a better taste, fry grated carrots in oil and chopped onion separately. Add to the soup. Cook for 15 minutes on a low heat. Before serving sprinkle with chopped dill.
