Shangi recipe

700 g (1 lb 9 oz) yeast dough
For the filling:
8 potatoes
1 egg
1 egg white
2 tbsp sour cream
2 tbsp vegetable oil
salt to taste
For the greasing:
1 egg yolk

Roll dough into a rope and slice it into pieces of about 50 g (1 3/4 oz) each. Roll the pieces into balls, place on a greased baking sheet and let them stand for 15 to 20 minutes. Make a depression in the centre of each piece, fill it with beaten up mashed potatoes and egg using a bag. Bake at 392 F until brown. Serve with various soups, kvass or tea.
